Loving Your Enemies
A pastor (Rev Fred Winters) was shot dead during his Sunday sermon in Maryville, Illinois, after all this his wife said if he was still here even after he took his life that Fred would still forgive him. we all now that God wants us to love our enemies but i personally think that me and you probably don't keep to that one well. when my brother hits me my first reaction would be to hit him back. before i can even think about resisting its too late. to me its one of the hardest habit to break. i found a verse that says exactly that, it says in Matthew 5:43-50 in the New International Version
43"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.so there you go that practicality says it all right there. it seams Imposable but God wouldn't give us a rule thats imposable would he? so he knows that we can do it.

It is much easier to love those who love us isn't it? Loving those who hate us or want to do us harm, now that's the test of love there. Good illustration about you and your brother. Pride is ALWAYS the first one to step forward isn't it? That was really a sad story about Pastor Winters. It's sad to see what the human mind is willing to get a man to do! Hope you are having a good evening William. Take care!

@UnworthyofHisgrace@xanga - thanks! i know the police still havint found a motive yet and they have no clue what it could be
That's terrible that he was shot
I'll pray for his family.
THAT is such an awesome post! Such a sad story though.
But I love your conclusion, it gives one hope and
is definitely a principle to keep in mind regarding anything God tells me to do!
Keep writing!
And thanks for the comment!
